Can anyone recommend a car seat that will support him now and grow with him?
My baby is 4 months, 21 lbs and 30 inches and his growth doesn't seem to be slowing down any.

My niece riding in a very unsafe car seat? How do my husband and I bring this up without offending parents?
My niece brother in law's daughter . Is a very small 20 month old. We have noticed that her parents have been using an old second had car seat that is designed for a much older child. The seat is in the forward facing position and the belts fit poorly very loose and sliding down . The family has experienced financial stress due to medical bills for their new premature baby and daycare costs. We would love to buy a proper seat for their daughter without offending them. Any ideas on how to bring up this problem to them without being overbearing? We are feeling that this is an issue that can't be overlooked.typo second hand car seat No one wants a huge family confrontation to be created because of this? The parents are prone to being offended.

Does anyone aside from Consumers Report do crash safety ratings for children's car seats?
There is a particular seat that I'm interested in buying, but CR didn't rate it, and I don't want to purchase it without some information on how well it performs in a crash. I know that probably all of them pass a minimum safety test, but some do better in a collision than others. I have seen ratings for qualities like " ease of use," but crash safety is what I'm most interested in. Thanks When we bought our infant seat 4 years ago, I became aware of the testing problems that CR had with a lab that they outsourced to. If I recall correctly, the crash speeds were twice what they were supposed to be, and as a result, only three infant seats passed. I supposed that this could work to our advantage, though, and purchased an infant seat by BabyTrend that had passed the overly rigorous test. I am not aware of CR having to retract any of their car seat ratings since then. I have read accusations, but nothing that was substantiated to my knowledge. Still, I would not depend on CR so much if there was any other agency rating car seats, but as far as I know, they're it.Our 2nd child is ready to graduate from his infant seat, so I checked CR and also browsed BabyTrend's site, since we have purchased from them before. Based on CR's ratings, we like the Evenflo Triumph convertable, which also happens to be what we bought for our older child at this point in his li

Would you buy a gender neutral convertible car seat to use for your next child or buy "gender appropriate"?
We are getting a minivan this weekend and I am looking at convertible car seats for my 3 year old daughter. We have two right now, one in each of our cars already, that are brown and pink. I am thinking of getting a neutral colored one so the baby on the way that I think is a boy can use it too after she outgrows it but on the other hand, I really want to get my daughter a pink one. Buying another one in 2 3 years isn't a problem but if I can save money, part of me is telling me to just get the neutral one. What would you buy?

Opinions on this convertible car seat for a newborn.?
My sister is having her first baby and I'm buying her a carseat as a gift and I want to get something she'll be able to use long term and will save money in the long run. But I'm not sure if this convertable carseat is good for newborns i.e. does it lay down far enough for comfort and safety? . It says it does but I'd like some real parents opinions. Most people who did the reviews only used it after they used the infant seat but I need to know about newborn usage. Two questions: involving car seats and umbilical cords. ?
First, what age does a baby's umbilical cord tag crust over and fall off? Second, when does one turn their baby's car seat from rear facing to forward facing? I know you keep them rear facing for a lot longer than people did when I was a baby, but I was just inquiring.

Does the orbit baby car seat need the base ?
I have an orbit baby system ... but I'm going to be doing a lot of traveling soon, and the base would be an extra ten pounds . So if I don't need it, that'd be great . So, are you able to use it in a vehicle without the base ?

How old was your baby when you started leaving the car seat in the car?
This might seem like a dumb or obvious question, but it's really something I'm wondering My daughter is 8 months old and it's really getting to be a pain in the butt carrying her carseat inside up 2 flights of stairs at our apartment, or hauling it into the store and putting it on a shopping cart. I have one of those shopping cart covers, but it's been really cold and rainy lately and if I'm going in somewhere, I don't want her to get rained on so I usually end up leaving her in the carseat and bringing her in like that. What age was your baby when you just left the carseat in the car and started carrying your baby into your house, into the car, into the store, whatever?I realize that it's called a " carseat" for a reason, but where I live, I see LOADS of mothers using their carseat to transport their baby into stores and whatnot. I was just wondering what age most of these mothers stopped doing this.
